Located within 15 acres of park-land and surrounded by olive, pine and oak trees, this hotel originally served as the guest quarters of the Certosa dei Galluzo Monastery in 1400.

The building was enlarged in the 19th century and renovated along with other buildings on the property to make a total of 59 rooms and 6 suites. The rooms and suites overlook the magnificent park setting surrounding them, and have a view of the Tuscan hills and the Certosa.

A stay at the Relais Certosa offers the advantages of absolute peace and tranquillity in a garden setting just minutes from the historical centre of Florence.

The Relais Villa offers modern meeting and banquet facilities, tennis courts, a swimming pool, bar, and a charming restaurant where typical delicious Tuscan dishes are prepared and served. Lunch and dinner can also be served in the garden or by the poolside.

Hotel information

The Villa of Relais Certosa was originally the guest quarters of the Certosa dei Galluzo Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in Europe and a destination of pilgrimages. The monastery hosted hundreds of religious scholars, and, before the Napoleonic pillages, preserved over 500 exquisite works of art. Even today, one can admire several of these works of art when visiting this antique Monastery, still occupied by the Cistercian monks. It was renovated along with other buildings on the property to make a total of 59 rooms and 6 suites, some decorated in rustic Tuscan style and some modern.

Food & beverage

La Terrazza Restaurant is open from 12:30 to 14:30 and from 19:30 to 22:30. It offers guests an extensive menu according to the season with a wide selection of Italian and international wines.

On the ground floor of the hotel, guests can enjoy a breakfast buffet in the Restaurant La Veranda, served in the mornings from 07:00 to 10:30. Surrounded by gardens, this setting is a beautiful and cheerful way to start the day with a healthy breakfast where a variety of cereals, fresh fruits and juices, freshly baked pastries, as well as an assortment of cold meats and cheeses are available.

Poor customer service. The bathroom smelled like mold and the towels were the similar to a cloth dinner napkins. The walls between the rooms are paper thin - no sound proofing whatsoever.

It has a wide and nice garden and typical toscana style rooms.

Very incomfort extra-bed, rain dropped top, and mold smelled bathroom.

Camera con vista. L'hotel è in una splendida posizione: sembra di entrare in un film di Ivory o nel romanzo di Forster. Parco romantico e colli di ulivi sotto l'antica Certosa............

Il bar della splendida piscina apre solo alle 16: è un po' tardi. Sarebbe bello fare colazione a bordo piscina prima di iniziare le visite a Firenze
